Our new clinic Hamilton BreastScreen has opened, making breast screening more accessible for the Southern Grampians community. The clinic is located at Hamilton Base Hospital, 20 Foster Street, Hamilton.

This is the first time there has been a BreastScreen Victoria clinic in Hamilton. Our mobile screening service van used to visit the town every two years and demand for appointments was high.

Luke Neill, interim BreastScreen Victoria CEO said, "We are delighted to launch this new BreastScreen Victoria clinic at Hamilton. Providing a fixed site for our existing mobile service clients will expand capacity and means our clients can access an appointment year-round, at a time that suits them."

Members of our Consumer Network played an important role in the planning for Hamilton BreastScreen. They travelled to the site to provide feedback and ensured the new clinic had a welcoming and inclusive environment for consumers. Two of the consumers involved in the planning process, Marilyn and Janette, shared their thoughts on the opening:

“It is absolutely wonderful that rural women are being supported in such a way. Thank you very much, it’s a great day for rural women,” Marilyn said.

“We used to have to go to Ballarat or use the van. I have a mother living with us who is also using this service. Thank you it will save us a lot of travel and it will also give us a lot of peace of mind,” Janette said.

Like all our clinics, Hamilton BreastScreen has state-of-the-art facilities, the latest digital imaging technology, and caring, highly qualified staff. There is free parking available, and the clinic is a 15 minute-walk from Hamilton railway station.

We look forward to welcoming clients to our new Hamilton clinic for their next breast screen.
