Happy World Radiography Day

World Radiography Day marks the anniversary of the discovery of X-radiation by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895. This day aims to raise public awareness of radiographic imaging and therapy, which play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

On this day, BreastScreen Victoria sends a big thank you to our imaging staff for your hard work and dedication.

As we celebrate the vital contribution of radiography professionals to modern healthcare, BreastScreen Victoria is putting a focus on promoting the value of mammography and the crucial work our imaging staff do to encourage others to join BreastScreen Victoria as a next step in their career.

We are highlighting our radiographers' voices through profile stories on our Careerspage to help attract more imaging professionals to our fantastic One BreastScreen Team. You can read about the what the role involves, what qualities make a good radiographer and the most rewarding parts of the job from BreastScreen Gippsland Radiographer Alhana Hofer and Chief Radiographer at Breast Screen North Western Natalie Gilbert. We look forward to sharing more stories of our radiographers to continue highlighting the life-changing and rewarding impact of this vital role.

Natalie says, "I’m proud to work for BreastScreen because you’re here meeting the clients. When people come to use our services, they’re so anxious. It can be a scary time being potentially told you might have breast cancer. All of us can imagine being in that position. If you can be that one person that’s kind or makes a client smile or has a nice conversation, it breaks that anxiety and it’s worth it. It’s a great part of the job, and a part I will always love."
