Facebook blocks Australian news and other sites

Many Australians woke up today to discover they could no longer read the news on Facebook.

In a statement, Facebook said it is restricting publishers and people in Australia from sharing or viewing Australian and international news content on Facebook in response to Australia's proposed News Media Bargaining Code legislation.

Some non-media sources have also been blocked on Facebook such as government health departments, fire and emergency services, and the weather bureau.

BreastScreen Victoria's Facebook Page is still up and running and we don't expect it to be blocked. However, if you visit our Page and find that you can't see our content, be sure to visit our website for all the latest information about our breast screening service. You can also find us on Twitter and Instagram.
