BreastScreen Victoria welcomes new Board Chair

BreastScreen is delighted to welcome new Board of Management Chair Dr Elisabet Wreme, as we farewell our outgoing Chair Wayne Tattersall.

Elisabet has served on BreastScreen Victoria’s Board of Management since 2017, most recently as Deputy Chair. She has a wealth of experiencing navigating organisations through change and is passionate about creating great client outcomes. Elisabet has broad experience across a range of strategic and operational roles, including senior roles with NAB and Telstra, and is currently also serving on the board of YMCA Victoria.

“It has been a privilege to serve on the Board of Management at BreastScreen Victoria since 2017, most recently as Deputy Chair, and I feel honoured to have the opportunity to take on the role of Chair,” Elisabet said.

“I am very excited about this next phase, working with CEO Terri Smith and the other Board Members to steer such important work. Together, we want to continue to make sure Victorians benefit from a strong, reliable and caring organisation that puts clients at the centre and delivers effective outcomes.

“I would like to thank Wayne for his hard work and commitment to the board over the past five years and wish him well in the future.”

Wayne resigned from his position as Chair and Board Member after serving for more than five years on the board, spending the first three as Treasurer before taking on the role of Chair in 2018. Wayne has been committed to supporting BreastScreen Victoria’s crucial work during his tenure, bringing extensive business expertise to the role, particularly in finance, IT and the management of information systems.

Wayne has led the board through a substantial governance review, and successfully directed the board to focus on strategic priorities while ensuring effective accountability structures. Wayne has also led BreastScreen Victoria through the transition to a new CEO. His many contributions to the BreastScreen Victoria Board of Management are embedded in our refreshed governance processes and systems.

BreastScreen Victoria CEO Terri Smith said “It has been such a pleasure to work with Wayne.  I have greatly appreciated his guidance, support and knowledge since I joined BreastScreen Victoria. In what was a difficult time for the organisation and for our community, Wayne generously shared his time and wisdom.

“I am pleased to welcome our new Chair Dr Elisabet Wreme to the role and look forward to working together to continue to build BreastScreen Victoria as a highly-regarded, client-focused health service that delivers great outcomes for Victorians, starting with our new strategic plan 2021-25.”

Dr Elisabet Wreme took up the role of Board of Management Chair on Wednesday 24 February.
