Consumer Network

BreastScreen Victoria is committed to ensuring that consumer voices and experiences are at the forefront of informing our work. We do this by engaging with consumers to provide insight into the planning and delivery of our service ensuring our clients' diverse needs are met and working alongside consumers to promote the importance of screening to their communities. To facilitate this work, we have developed our Consumer Network, a committed group of people who are engaged at various levels of the organisation. This work is driven by our Consumer Engagement Framework which guides the work we do with consumers, and supports staff to involve consumers in a meaningful way. 
 
If you are interested in engaging with BreastScreen Victoria to provide the consumer voice, you can join our Consumer Network by submitting an expression of interest form or contactingconsumerreps@breastscreen.org.au. You don't need any formal experience to join the Network. However, we will ask you to identify relevant skills or experience when joining. We record your details in a consumer database so that you can be contacted to participate in engagement activities.  

How can you get involved?

As a BreastScreen Consumer Network Member, we may invite you to:

  • Promote the importance of screening in the community
  • Provide feedback on new resource development
  • Complete surveys and interviews
  • Share your breast screening experience
  • Participate in workshops and focus groups
  • Contribute to the service design and planning
  • Join a Project Board or a Committee in a representative role

Why get involved?

As a part of our Consumer Network, you can represent the diverse needs and views of eligible Victorians and help us ensure the consumer's voice guides everything we do.

You will work alongside BreastScreen staff and other members of the Consumer Network. Your participation is voluntary (unpaid), but you will receive training and support; you can expect to make new connections and have meaningful opportunities to create sustainable change. With your help, we can deliver better BreastScreen services to eligible Victorians.

Time commitment

We will contact you via email with opportunities to be involved. It is entirely up to you what level of involvement you wish to pursue.

Footnote: Before 2020, BreastScreen recruited Ambassadors and Consumer Representatives. Both roles have merged into members of the Consumer Network.
