Plan for treatment to target ‘evil’ cells protecting cancers

A Sydney scientist at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research is attempting to use the strength of immunotherapy to treat triple negative breast cancers.

Dr Valdes Mora has secured one of 21 fellowships and a share in $10.4 million from the NSW government and the Cancer Institute NSW to find a way of killing off triple negative breast cancers with epigenetic drugs and immunotherapy. If she succeeds it will be the first step towards personalised medicine for these patients.
