Volunteers are a key part of BreastScreen Victoria

National Volunteer Week (17-23 May) is an annual celebration to promote and show appreciation for volunteerism and volunteering. At BreastScreen Victoria, we're grateful to have an excellent team of volunteers, including our Ambassadors and Consumer Representatives, who also volunteer to support clients in having a positive breast screening experience in clinics.

Following strict COVID-19 restrictions, Grampians BreastScreen welcomed its volunteers back. Ann Campbell and Heather Murray joined the BreastScreen team nine and three years ago, respectively. Ann and Heather provide support and refreshments and offer comfort to clients who may feel nervous about their breast screens and follow-up appointments for further tests.

“Ann and Heather are integral members of our BreastScreen team. A key part of their work is being a friendly face and presence for clients on clinic days,” said Diane Satori, Program Manager for Grampians BreastScreen.

Our Ambassadors and Consumer Representatives also promote the importance of screening in the community and provide their perspective in decision-making, service planning, delivery and improvement. Our volunteers take part in interviews and surveys, participate in focus groups and workshops, and much, much more!

Thank you to Ann, Heather, and all our wonderful volunteers.
