Recognising our Radiographers and Radiologists

Every day, radiographers and radiologists help thousands of women take an important step towards protecting their health.

On this World Radiography Day and International Day of Radiology, we celebrate the expertise, dedication and care of the imaging professionals who play a vital role in helping save lives through early detection.

Do you know the difference?

A radiographer is the health professional who supports you throughout your breast screening appointment. They explain the breast screen (mammogram) process, carefully position you for your breast screen, take at least two x-ray images of each breast, and ensure the images are of the highest quality.

A radiologist is a specialist doctor who reviews the images, looking for any signs of breast cancer or other changes that may require further investigation. Together, they play an important role in the early detection of breast cancer.

Are you a radiographer or radiologist, or do you know someone who would be a great fit for BreastScreen Victoria? We're always looking for passionate people to join the BreastScreen Victoria team.
