Key message
Breast cancer develops in 1 in 7 people that were assigned female at birth. People that were assigned male at birth have a lower risk, but their risk increases when they are on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for 5 years or more.
A free, 10-minute breast/chest screen can detect cancer when it’s still too small to feel, even by a doctor. The sooner cancer is found, the more successful treatment is likely to be.
Since March 2019, BreastScreen Victoria has been Rainbow Tick accredited. This drives ongoing improvement to build lasting LGBTIQA+ inclusion.
Are you aged 50 to 74?
If you have no breast symptoms, a breast/chest screen is recommended for:
- Cis women
- Trans women (5+ years on HRT)
- Trans men (that have not had top surgery)
- Gender diverse/non-binary people (AFAB and have not had top surgery or AMAB with 5+ years of HRT)
To find out more about eligibility, or to book a breast/chest screen, visit breastscreen.org.au/rainbow or call 13 20 50.
We appreciate your help!
