Upcoming Rainbow Session in St Kilda

We’ve teamed up with the Victorian Pride Centre to organise dedicated Rainbow Screening Sessions for members of LGBTIQA+ communities. We know these communities can face barriers to screening, which is why we are bringing our van to St Kilda so people from LGBTIQA+ communities can screen in a safe and supportive environment. On 26, 27 and 28 May the van will be parked at the Palais Theatre (Jacka Blvd Parking). There are still some appointments available to book.

You may have seen or heard our promotional material on the streets of St Kilda, on one of our stakeholders’ social media accounts or on JOY FM. On Monday, one of our clients; Brenda Appleton and JOY FM’s Dee Mason were interviewed on air by Warren Andrew. They spoke about the importance of breast and chest screening for women and trans and gender diverse people within the LGBTIQA+ communities. You can hear the full interview here: Dee Mason: Seen, Safe, Screened: Rainbow Sessions and Inclusive Healthcare | JOY Drive

Who can attend these sessions?

Our services are proudly Rainbow Tick accredited and available for women and trans and gender diverse people aged 50 to 74 without breast symptoms.

We recommend a breast/chest screen for the following people:

  • Cis women
  • Trans women who have been on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for 5 years or more
  • Trans men that have not had top surgery
  • Gender diverse/non-binary people that were assigned female at birth and have not had top surgery
  • Gender diverse and non-binary people that were assigned male at birth and that have been on HRT for 5 years or more.
