NAIDOC Week celebration

This week is NAIDOC Week. During this week, celebrations are held across Australia to recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The 2025 theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” honours past achievements and looks to a future shaped by the strength of young leaders, the vision of First Nations communities, and the enduring legacy of their ancestors.

As part of the Beautiful Shawl Project—an award-winning project in partnership with VACCHO—we have commissioned First Nations artists to create artwork for many years. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women receive a free cultural screening shawl designed by a local Aboriginal artist to wear during their breast screen and take home with them. The shawls are designed to make women feel more comfortable, respected and safe.
