Celebrating the Moments That Matter this breast cancer awareness month

This week, BreastScreen Victoria staff came together to acknowledge Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) with a special all-staff gathering celebrating the moments that matter.

The event was an opportunity to pause and reflect on the collective impact we make every day to our clients through breast cancer screening and early detection.

This year's internal BCAM theme, Moments that Matter, encourages us to take a moment for ourselves and one another. Throughout the year, our teams spend countless hours supporting clients and communities across Victoria. This month, we're taking the opportunity to turn that care inward by creating space for connection, reflection and wellbeing with each other.

The theme closely aligns with our latest public awareness campaign, It's time to screen, which encourages women to think about breast screening not just as a health appointment, but as a way of protecting the moments and people that matter most in their lives.

BCAM is an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer, while also encouraging conversations about health and wellbeing. It's a reminder that taking care of ourselves is not only an act of self-care, but an act of care for those around us.

Together, we're making BCAM a time to pause, connect and celebrate the people and moments that give our work meaning.

Because the moments that matter are worth making time for. And it’s time to screen.

If you're aged 50 to 74 and don't have breast symptoms, book your free 10-minute breast screen at breastscreen.org.au or call 13 20 50.
