Women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds screen for breast cancer less often than the general population. At BreastScreen Victoria, we are committed to reducing barriers to screening.
Screening for eligible Victorians from diverse backgrounds
We want to make sure there are no barriers between you and getting a breast screen. To help the widest range of eligible Victorians, we provide culturally appropriate services that are accessible to people from diverse backgrounds.
We have information in a range of languages that you can share and download.
You can book an appointment through an interpreter by calling 13 14 50 and asking to be connected to BreastScreen Victoria.
If you ask when booking the appointment, we can also arrange for an interpreter to be available for the appointment.
We can organise for group bookings so that you can travel together and provide support to each other.
We can organise familiarisation visits as well.
Women from culturally diverse backgrounds like Hadi are underscreened. That's why we work with community organisations and translate our resources to improve our service and help make breast screening equitable and accessible for all eligible Victorians.
