Women’s Health Mobile Clinic Showcased at Parliament House, Canberra

Last week was an incredible opportunity to showcase our Women’s Health Mobile Clinic at the Parliamentary Friends of Nursing event in the Mural Hall at Parliament House.

Women’s Health Clinic Nurse Coordinator Elise Kornmann and Nurse Practitioner Louise Holland attended the event, where they spoke with Members of Parliament, ministerial advisers and other stakeholders about the difference the service is making for women and adolescents across rural and regional Victoria.

One of the highlights was the opportunity to speak with Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, the Hon Rebecca White MP, about the importance of improving access to women’s healthcare through innovative, nurse-led models of care. Louise also had the opportunity to meet with Minister for Health and Aged Care, the Hon Mark Butler MP, to discuss our service and the growing need for accessible women’s healthcare at a national level.

Reflecting on the event, Elise said “We left feeling incredibly proud to represent our service and excited about the opportunities and conversations had, as well as the strong interest shown in our model of care.”

The event reinforced just how important this work is, and the growing recognition of the role nurses and nurse practitioners play in delivering accessible, high-quality healthcare.
