Earlier this month, we attended the BreastScreen Australia Conference in Brisbane. This year’s theme was Equity in Action.
It was a fantastic few days and a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with colleagues from across the country, exchange ideas, and learn about innovative work already making a difference in communities nationwide.
Across three days, we heard from experts through engaging presentations, including thought‑provoking discussions on the future of breast screening and the emerging role of artificial intelligence. We also explored a wide range of poster displays highlighting practical initiatives and research aimed at reducing barriers and improving outcomes.
For the team, the real value of the event was the way it encouraged big‑picture thinking while still grounding discussions in practical, achievable change. It provided a valuable opportunity to consider where the program is heading at a macro level, while also identifying local improvements that can make individual services more accessible.
The conference reinforced that achieving equity in breast screening requires collective effort, shared learning, and ongoing reflection. Thank you to BreastScreen Australia for bringing the sector together and fostering collaboration, shared learning and progress toward more equitable screening for all.
