Nina, the BreastScreen Victoria van has rolled into Robinvale to screen local women until July 21.
The mobile service is situated at the Robinvale District Health Services on Latje Road. It will then visit the Murray Valley Aboriginal Co-op from July 22 to 24. Radiographers aim to screen 350 local women during its stay.
Robinvale St Mary’s school teacher Lisa McWilliam was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and underwent a lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
The 47 year old single mother of three urges local women to book an appointment for a breast screen while the van is in town.
“Consider this, once you’ve been sick it’s a very long slow, time consuming effort to get well again. So, the amount and time and effort to go and have a mammogram is absolutely miniscule,” Ms McWillam said.
