Mobile Screening Service Visits Maryborough

Nina, BreastScreen Victoria’s mobile screening service screened 455 women during her first visit to Maryborough, eclipsing the initial screening target of 281.

The eye catching bright pink van was stationed at Princes Park from October 15 to 25 and then due to overwhelming demand, from November 4 to 8.

62 year old local breast cancer survivor Ruth Cain is a firm advocate of the importance of regular mammograms, as she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005.

“I was so busy that I had to cancel my scheduled appointment for a mammogram. It was my colleague who reminded me to rebook, and I’m so glad I did,” said Mrs Cain.

“I was diagnosed with breast cancer and opted for a full mastectomy on my right side, followed by a course of radiotherapy.”

Ruth encourages local women to be vigilant and look after their health.
