More than 100 culturally and linguistically diverse women in Melbourne’s west met to celebrate International Women's Day and learn about good health.
The health day provided information about screening programs, the importance of regular activity and eating well.
BreastScreen Victoria Health Promotion Manager Nikki McGrath says the event was primarily for women aged between 45 and 65 with a focus on Cultural Diversity Week and Harmony Day.
“BreastScreen Victoria is happy to support this initiative as we know from our data that women from culturally diverse backgrounds, particularly those living in the west, don’t always put their health first,” said Mrs McGrath.
Screening participation at the Sunshine BreastScreen clinic has fallen dramatically in recent months and many appointment slots remain unfilled.
