Cabrini Health and BreastScreen Victoria work together for women’s well-being

BreastScreen Victoria is now working alongside Cabrini Health to bring women in southeast Melbourne a free breast screening service year round.

Cabrini Health has taken over the provision of the Elsternwick clinic at 494 Glen Huntly Road ensuring women in the area have consistent access to this potentially life-saving preventative health measure. Brand new, state of the art digital mammography equipment has been installed at the clinic in time with Cabrini Health’s arrival.

BreastScreen Victoria CEO, Vicki Pridmore said that the exciting new partnership between the two not-for-profit organisations was a natural fit.

“Cabrini Health has been working in this area of Melbourne for more than 60 years and the well-being of the community is at the very heart of what they do. BreastScreen Victoria’s core business is to care for women and I’m looking forward to making gains to increase participation in our program.”

Doctor Michael Walsh, Cabrini’s Chief Executive, said that BreastScreen Victoria is a welcome addition to the services available to their patients and local communities.

“Cabrini is a busy centre for cancer care and we provide access to a comprehensive range of breast cancer services including diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, as well as complementary services such as our Cabrini Wig Room in Bayside and our scalp cooling technology which helps to prevent the likelihood of hair loss for patients undergoing chemotherapy,” he said. “We understand the importance of early detection of abnormalities.”

The BreastScreen Victoria Elsternwick clinic is open Monday through Saturday, with appointments available at times convenient for busy women. Bookings can be made online at breastscreen.org.au or by calling 13 20 50.
