Active and Well After Breast Cancer initiative & free information day 

BCNA is excited to launch Active and Well After Breast Cancer, an initiative designed to assist women to lead healthier lifestyles after having breast cancer.

Active & Well After Breast Cancer is a pilot initiative for women diagnosed with breast cancer up to three years ago, who want to improve their health and wellbeing. The initiative will connect women with others in their community who also want to take charge of their health and wellbeing and link women with local community-based programs and services to help them maintain an active lifestyle. 

The cornerstone of the initiative is an information day to educate women about the importance physical activity and healthy eating after a breast cancer diagnosis, as well as provide practical strategies to help women embark on a healthier lifestyle.

Women from Melbourne’s North West are invited to the free information day in Flemington on Thursday 4 September 2014. The event is open to women from across Melbourne’s north western suburbs including Altona, Fitzroy, Whittlesea, Sunbury and Taylor’s Lakes.

The program will feature the latest information and advice from exercise and nutrition specialists, inspiration from Olympian and breast cancer survivor Raelene Boyle, and opportunities to meet other women who want to get more active.

BCNA CEO Maxine Morand, herself a breast cancer survivor, said that it is important women understand the benefits of physical activity and healthy eating after a breast cancer diagnosis.
