BreastScreen seeking consumer representatives

Get involved!

At BreastScreen Victoria, we believe in putting clients at the centre of our service. With over 260,000 clients using our services each year, we want to ensure that every client has the best possible service experience each time they visit one of our screening clinics, mobile services or assessment centres.

To do this, we have committed to engage with and consult consumers who can give us insight into the diverse needs of our clients.  The BreastScreen Victoria Client Centric Care Project will enhance the ways that we involve our consumers and identify improvements to the service experience itself.

As a BSV consumer representative, you will have the opportunity to help us create a truly outstanding service experience that matches client expectations and perhaps even exceeds what you would normally expect from a free health service.

How can you get involved?

As a BreastScreen consumer representative, you may be invited to:

• Complete surveys and interviews
• Share your experience with breast screening
• Participate in workshops and focus groups
• Assist with gathering client feedback
• Join a working group or a committee
• Contribute to the design and planning of projects.

Why get involved?

Being a consumer representative can give you the opportunity to represent the diverse needs and views of BreastScreen clients across Victoria and help us make the client's voice our guide for everything we do.

You will work alongside BreastScreen staff and other experts. The consumer representative role is voluntary (unpaid) but you can expect reimbursement of reasonable expenses. You will receive training and support; you can expect to make new connections and have meaningful opportunities to create sustainable change.

You will need to be motivated, curious, and a good listener. You’ll be comfortable speaking for yourself and also representing the views of others. Of course you will need to have time for these activities – meetings would typically be in Carlton, sometimes regional and may be held during business hours, early evening or weekends.
